2,000 Words a Day

I recently completed the Nanowrimo writing challenge.  This is a month long challenge to writers, mostly novelists, to start – and FINISH – a 50,000 word novel during November.  While I am not a novelist, I decided this was the perfect challenge for me to scribble out the first full draft of my book, “Get a New Life – Without Going Into Witness Protection.”

I wrote over 2,000 words a day and completed my 50K in 22 days.

It’s 150 pages of word salad at this point in time but I now have a pile of clay on the potter’s wheel, ready to shape into my first full length book.

Here’s my big take away.  If you want something different, you have to do something different. 2,000 words a day, baby.  Butt in chair, git ‘er done – 2,000 words a day.  Don’t feel like it?  2,000 words a day.  Headache?  2,000 words a day.  Quit whining about how things aren’t the way you want them and do…2,000 words a day.

What dream are you holding on to that is merely waiting for your 2,000 words a day?
