Kitchen tips

Decluttering your kitchen just may be the best thing you can do to support your efforts in eating a more healthful diet. Healthful as in - food you actually prepare! I’m chuckling writing this because lately, it seems Trader Joe has been doing the majority of the cooking in my home lately.

But if you’ve still got kids at home or health issues that require dietary changes, the TJ diet isn’t the best course of action. So wadda do? You set your environment up for success. Here’s a few kitchen tips to turn your kitchen into an enjoyable place to cook

  • Clear your counters, babee! Put away infrequently used appliances. If you use your food processor once a month, don’t let it hog valuable real estate on your counter!

  • Pass on appliance and doo dads that you’ve promised yourself - 4 years ago - that you would use one day.

  • Ditch duplicates. Keep your favorites - donate the rest.

  • Ditch the quirky things - like that fickle can opener that only works if you hold it just so.

  • Buy yourself some GOOD knives if you don’t already have some.

  • Use small baskets to group like items in both the fridge and the pantry. Ie, condiments in on bin. In the pantry, I keep baking ingredients like baking soda, powder and vanilla in a small bin.

Do you have some favorite kitchen tips? Or is there a challenge I can help you with? As always, I welcome your comments and questions!
