What if to what is
We humans are a funny lot. We spend the majority of our waking hours regretting our past or feeling anxious about the future. It is no wonder that spiritual teachers of every stripe invite us to establish a mindfulness practice.
What is mindfulness? Simply paying attention to the present moment. It’s easier said than done. Just set a timer for 60 seconds and observe your thoughts while paying attention to the movement of your breath in and out.
When folks hear that I’m an organizer, they will often joke about how they would like me to organize their heads. Yeah, I get it! We share a laugh together and then I tell them that YES, it IS possible to declutter your head. And yes, life coaching can help with that.
But the most effective tool for decluttering your head is the simple practice of mindfulness or mindfulness meditation. But need to shift from “What If” to “What Is.” Peace can only be found in the present. Not imagining horrible things that will likely never happen.
