Homemaking 101

For many people the word “homemaking” conjures up pictures of an apron wearing June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. She even has her pearl necklace on.

I also hearken back to 7th grade home economics class. We learned to slather a loaf of bread with butter (it was probably a cheap margarine) on both sides, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the buttered bread, reassemble loaf, wrap in foil and pop in the oven. Oh, bleck!

Homemaking today is a bit different from the 1950’s stereotype and thank goodness - home ec classes from the 70s.

If you’re going to have peace in your home and with your partner, having some homemaking/household management skills in your tool box is critical. Here are some of the skills I’m talking about:

  • Meal planning

  • Budgeting and bill paying routine

  • Chore routine

  • Household maintenance

By establishing some simple routines, this can add a TON of peace to your home! For instance, Friday’s have long been my day to sit down and look at our budget. Mondays are laundry day. Get the idea?

If I can help you with your challenges, feel free to shoot me an email. If you have a question, it’s likely others have the same question.
