My best organizing tip EVER

I love going to the Container Store even though I’ve never bought anything there because I find their prices too rich for my budget.  Ikea is another favorite place as they have perfected the art of creating comfortable SMALL living spaces.  (BTW - if you have not had one of Ikea’s new veggie dogs, you simply must. And they are only .75! Nom, nom.) 

I am always on the prowl for inspiration, new ideas and organizing hacks. Are you ready for what I’ve discovered is the best organizing tip EVER? 

Surprise!  It’s not found at Ikea or the Container Store.  And certainly NOT on Marie Kondo’s doodad site. 

Set your wallet down.  Close the Amazon tab on your puter.  Here it is:

            NEVER ORGANIZE CLUTTER.

There it is!  I know, probably a bit of a letdown. You were probably hoping I had some magic bullet, right?  Clutter needs to be sent on its way, not organized.  Otherwise you will never be able to maintain a clutter free environment. 

I also recommend to people that they NEVER buy organizing bins, baskets and misc., until they’ve removed what needs to go. Then, and only then, do you figure out new storage systems.

And speaking of storage systems, there are inexpensive solutions at the Dollar Store.  But please, utilize what you already have on hand.  Garage sales can be a great place to get nice organizing tools – provided you’re not tempted to buy stuff that will only create tomorrow’s clutter collection. 

Now, go feed a dumpster!
