Numbing by accumulation

What is your go-to when the stress is on?  For me, it’s a bit too much wine in the evening and attempts to control things that are not in my power to control.

For some people, it may be addiction to drugs or gambling. Other addictions are socially acceptable – like working too much. Or compulsively exercising.

These behaviors need compassion and understanding, not judgement and a moralistic comeuppance.

A biggie I see as an organizer: Compulsive accumulation or keeping an environment so disorganized and chaotic that it distracts from living a happy, intentional life.

But when that life has so much pain and undealt with trauma tucked away (hello, heart clutter), it’s a welcome distraction.  It is not a coinkydink that many of these folks are also dealing with chronic pain in one form or another.

As wholeness and healing comes to the soul – this reflects in the outer appearance. I’m not suggesting that someone becomes an OCD neatnik – just that life begins to work better for them.
