5 Reasons why virtual organizing is great!
Who woulda thunk a little virus could so completely and thoroughly turn everything on its head? It has changed everything. From how we meet friends for a cup of coffee (if you can find a coffee shop that even has outdoor seating available) to how we run businesses.
Some small businesses haven’t been able to weather this storm. Others have found ways to reinvent themselves and use technology to grow their business. From telemedicine to grocery delivery to virtual events – I believe we are seeing the best of human resiliency and creativity with these adaptations. And I sure hope that some of these changes will go back to the pre-Covid ways. (I like hugs and this social distancing stuff is challenging.)
As an organizer, I too, have had to adapt. Organizing is a very personal process – I get right in your space, literally. Sometimes those are tight spaces, like jam-packed closets. Not exactly a socially distanced process.
I believe ANYTIME is a good time to declutter, but NOW is an extraordinarily good time to declutter! Being cooped up, face-to-face with clutter can be a real energy drain. But it’s also hard to keep up your momentum if you’re doing this alone.
Enter Virtual Organizing. First, I will admit this sounded like going to a Massage Therapist for a virtual massage. Or a handyman doing virtual repairs. But as I approached the idea with a more open mind and some creativity, I decided that Virtual Organizing is a real game changer – for those who don’t mind doing the work themselves.
Here are 5 reasons why:
It’s simply safer right now. No nasty virus transmission opportunities.
You take the driver’s seat – while having the full attention and expertise of a pro.
Virtual Organizing is part life coaching, part teaching (as we discuss hacks and tips), and TONS of encouragement.
It’s more budget friendly than having onsite organizing.
Between sessions, you get homework, accountability and encouragement.
