Home Management

Home management might not be the most exciting of topics but it is one that needs to be addressed.  If your home is not a place of peace and sanctuary, I would bet my lunch money it’s in part due to disorganization.

Decluttering and committing to bringing less into your home is one thing.  Sustaining those actions are another.  And that’s where Home Management 101 comes in handy.  Sadly, a lot of folks are missing even the most basic of skills like  cooking a meal from scratch, keeping bills paid on time and a routine for regular tasks like laundry.

One of the easiest things you can implement today is to simply assign a day to the needed tasks.  For example, for years, my routine looks something like this:

Sundays - Look over the upcoming calendar and plan accordingly

Tuesdays - I try to set up any appointments, like medical or dental, on Tuesdays. It keeps me from fumbling around trying to set dates when I am setting an appointment.  And because I have worked in both dental and medical offices, I know these days are usually slower than Mondays or Fridays.  This minimizes the chance of me sitting in the waiting area for an hour or more because the office is so busy.

Wednesdays - Review checking accounts, pay any bills

Thursdays - Laundry

Fridays - House Cleaning

The key to success is to keep is simple and to find out what works for you!  Like any good habit, you will reward the fruits of your efforts with consistency.
